Pratyay Raha is a creative arts enthusiast who has a deep passion for folk music, alternative travel and writing. Apart from being a Chemical Engineer, he has been learning music since childhood. Presently he is working in the International marketing department of Phillips Carbon Black Limited. In spite of his corporate assignment, he devotes a lot of time to develop and work for his arts. He has an album of Tagore compositions which was launched by Naborobikiron & Srinivas Music in 2016. He is part of a two bands Porijayi and Naiyyor, both of which perform a variety of musical forms. He also collaborates with his friend Sritama Basu for music performances. He specialises in folk music and writes on different aspects of folk music and modern society. He has also written and composed original songs, some of which are already published on YouTube. He is the founder of social and musical platform ‘Surokahon’ which aims at development of arts in a sustainable and creative process. He is into writing poetry too. His book of poetry, along two of his poet friends, will soon be published from ‘Karigar’. He has directed music for a documentary film named ‘Khela Jokhon’ directed by Malyaban Ash. Presently he is directing music for two short films and also recording his first album of Bengali Folk Music.
